GitHub Actions Certification
The final list of GitHub exams, GitHub Actions, was by far the toughest for me. I don’t spend too much time in GitHub Actions or GitHub Workflows day-to-day, but we did leverage that as part of the SANS SEC540 Cloud Security and DevSecOps Automation course. I completed that learning path, but that was not nearly enough to pass the exam, in my opinion. You must spend some time being hands-on with these and writing several actions or workflows. I also read through GitHub Actions in Action by Michael Kaufmann, Rob Bos, and Marcel de Vries. This book helped a lot and went much deeper than the learning path. Despite all this, I passed the Actions exam, making it the fifth and final GitHub Exam I’ve taken in these few weeks.
As I stated in my first post, git and interacting with platforms like GitHub are going to be a requirement for more than just developers. You need to at least know how to get around, but you should really jump in with both feet and learn it. I have several things I’m taking back to my role to investigate further.
