GitHub Administration Certification

As I mentioned in my last post, I completed the learning path for the GitHub Fundamentals exam and was planning on taking that exam. When I clicked through the other available learning paths, I saw that I was a little more than halfway done with the GitHub Administration learning path, with about 2 hours worth of content. I was the least interested in this course of the five, but I thought I would press my luck and push through to finish this content and determine if I could pass the exam.

The content was similar to some of the topics covered in the SANS 540 course. However, it was also more heavily geared towards Identity and Access Management topics like managing accounts and SAML/SCIM, which I’m deeply familiar with.

I decided to take it while both learning paths were fresh, and I booked the Administration exam the next day. This one was a little shorter than the foundation exam, and I felt it was maybe a touch easier than the foundation exam since it was focused on topics I’m more familiar with. I was able to also pass this exam. Again, this was more about learning these concepts and the options available. The learning path was really helpful, and I suspect if others complete it, there will be improvements they can make in their GitHub organization configuration. The best part is all of these learning paths are free!
